SCAR CARE & SKIN CARE
Scar Care & Skin
Scar care became part of my daily routine after surgery. These are the products I personally used, from keeping supplies organized to caring for scars once my surgeon said my incisions were ready.
Dressing Changes & Everyday Supplies
Practical supplies I liked having ready for dressing changes.
Gauze Rolls
Personally UsedI preferred gauze rolls to lots of little individual pads. I could cut exactly the length I needed and secure it with flexible medical tape during my dressing-change routine.

Personally UsedI packed these with my gauze and tape so I could cut dressings to the length I needed. They were a handy little addition to my recovery supplies. If you fly with scissors, check current airport security rules before packing.

Products I used at home, always following my surgeon’s instructions.
Antiseptic Skin Cleanser
Personally UsedI kept this skin cleanser on hand for my at-home dressing routine, following the instructions I was given. Healing incisions are different from ordinary skin, so ask your surgeon what is appropriate before using any cleanser on them.

Personally UsedMy surgeon recommended a restorative protective cream once my incisions had reached the appropriate stage of healing. I liked having it available at home for the skin-care part of my recovery, using it only when cleared to do so.

Two different silicone products for two different recovery experiences.
Soft Silicone Scar Sheets — Facelift & Neck Lift
Personally UsedOnce my surgeon gave me the okay to begin using silicone scar sheets, I practically lived in this stuff! It was soft, pliable, and easy to use around my facial scars, especially behind my ears where I had incisions from my neck lift. I was thrilled with how my scars healed, and this became one of my favorite recovery products.

Personally UsedFor my body surgery scars, I used silicone scar tape once my surgeon confirmed the incisions were ready. I found it helpful to make scar care part of my routine at home, but I waited for the go-ahead rather than putting tape on fresh or open areas.

Personally UsedWhen I first returned home after my facelift and neck lift, my surgeon recommended silicone scar gel. I used it, but found I went through it pretty quickly, so I eventually switched to the silicone scar sheets that became part of my regular routine.
